Pace University Alumni Association
Leadership Council Chair
Sabrina A. Griffin ’92 entered Pace University while working full-time at Chubb & Son, Inc. After earning her MBA in finance, Griffin lost touch with Pace outside of the occasional gift of support and committed herself to her career. She spent over thirty years at Chubb & Son, Inc, most recently as assistant vice president and diversity manager. She successfully managed and implemented leadership development programs geared towards women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ employees. As part of her portfolio, she also identified diverse talent recruiting sources, managed all employee resource groups, and partnered with strategic business units to tap diverse markets. Her initiatives contributed to Chubb & Son, Inc. earning numerous awards.
Prior to her promotion to diversity manager, Griffin took on numerous diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives because of a passion to make an impact on the success of others. Upon being told about her promotion, Griffin remarked, “I can’t even believe I am going to get paid for something I would gladly do for free.” Her time at Chubb & Son, Inc. came to an end when the company was acquired by another firm who decided to eliminate positions, including hers. Griffin is still pursuing her passion as a senior consultant with Jennifer Brown Consulting, LLC, a diversity, equity, and inclusion firm.
Upon reflection, Griffin finds herself grateful to have made the transition from a corporate role to consulting. She can now pursue additional interests, including events with fellow Pace alumni, engaging with staff, and supporting areas of interest through annual gifts. Griffin is now heavily involved with her alma mater and is fiercely committed to Pace's core value of Opportunitas. Griffin serves on the University’s President’s Council and the recent Presidential Taskforce on Diversity and Inclusion. She has participated as a moderator and panelist for Pace’s Career Services and the Human Resources and Talent Management Club, serving as a resource for students interested in a career in the industry.
Griffin’s appointment to serve as the Leadership Council Chair for the brand new Pace University Alumni Association will leverage her expertise in building community—an integral component of the Association's mission.
As a leader of the Alumni Association, Griffin aims to bring her authentic self to her new role, especially her passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), sharing:
“When I think about diversity, equity, and inclusion with regard to an alumni association, I will focus on inclusion and consider how to broaden offerings that appeal to every member of the Pace alumni family,” she shared. "When you get that right, then diversity and equity can be achieved. When I think about why I wasn't involved with Pace after I walked across the stage at my graduation ceremony, it was really because of my career and that’s the case for so many alumni—if there are programs, workshops, lectures, networking opportunities, and pathways to advance their careers and stay up to date on what is happening in their fields, people will show up. By discovering what is important to people at their particular stage in life, you can develop programming around a variety of topics. Everyone won’t be interested in the same thing, but there should be something for everyone.”
Griffin embodies a core tenant that the Office of Alumni Relations constantly strives to achieve—meeting alumni where they are.
