Clean beauty has received increasing recognition as mainstream celebrities launch their own brands. Think Alicia Silverstone, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba, Alicia Keys, Selena Gomez, Pharrell, Issarae, Miranda Kerr, and Kylie Jenner. TikTok users have also joined the trending interest by delivering online tutorials of a "clean look". An article from GOOP, Gwyneth Paltrow’s brand, shares more about clean beauty and why it matters. For those unfamiliar with the term, products deemed as clean beauty source ingredients that are conscientious of one’s health—without compromising the quality and effect of the item for the consumer audience. While the FDA regulates prohibited products, the GOOP article shares, “that there are 11 cosmetic ingredients currently banned by the FDA, while in the EU, over 1,300 ingredients are banned.”
Championing clean beauty is something we can all care about. As a part of a broad network of alumni, we are pleased to highlight a group of Pace alumni who are focusing and influencing the way we select and use products—from vegan, organic, cruelty-free, to ethically-sourced options.
