WHERE YOU SIT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Every day, Tom Mansley ’89, ’91, took the same seat in the back corner of the microeconomics classroom. One day he arrived to find a bright young woman had taken his seat. “I thought - ‘Wow!,’” said Tom. The woman was Jan
Panariello ‘90. She worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York just a few blocks away and was working on her MBA in Management at Pace. They talked. He walked her to the subway. “It was the pre-Guiliani years and I pretended to be afraid to walk alone through City Hall park to the subway,” Jane said. Less than two years later they married. The rest, as they say, is history.
Together they would go on to start a family and build a rewarding life including the founding of the Singleterry Mansley Asset Management Company, where Tom serves as the chief investment officer and Jan manages the contact management and data reporting systems.
“I came from relatively modest means and I couldn’t afford school, but Pace gave me a 4-year Trustee’s Scholarship and opportunities,” said Tom. “This is why we give, because Pace gave to me.”
In December 2012, The Mansleys established the Tom and Jan Mansley Endowed Scholarship Fund that provides scholarships to students enrolled in mathematics at Dyson College of Arts and Sciences.
